I’ll admit that I have never really cared before about the government or anything having to do with it. I never watch the news because it seems to always be about negativity and hate in the world and it makes me so sad and depressed. I always thought that living in the USA meant that I was free because after all we are the land of the free. I just read an article about medical kidnapping (link below) and it was basically about the government stepping in when a mother decided to take an alterntive path to her child’s cancer treatment. This got me really thinking about the state of our country and although I don’t usually talk about my political views, I think it lead me to an important realization of how as one person I can help the country and the world be a better place.

The past few years I’m learning so much and I’ve got to say I am terrified at where this country is going and I am scared to bring kids up in this world the way it is. Not sure if it has always been this way but my mind is blown by all the things that strip us of our right to choose for ourself and for our families. I am still learning about different issues that are being debated but when it comes to things like GMOs, medical marijuana, abortions, vaccines, medical treatment options, or anything that pertains to our bodies. I have always believed that as an individual we should all have a right to choose when it comes to our own body but the government has control over a lot of these things.

This article about medical kidnapping has me outraged because I remember growing up that it was such a huge thing to find a cure for cancer. I always thought that meant one single cure but now I know that some people believe the cure is the conventional/traditional route and others believe it is the holistic alternative route and others believe it is a combination of both. I believe everyone should have the right to decide but when it comes to the governments stand on cancer and any other disease it seems it has turned into finding a cure only if it generates profit for the government.

The government doesn’t see holistic and alternative options as a viable resource despite the fact that it has helped so many people and I really believe this is because of money. Things like going organic, essential oils, supplements, plants, etc are not making the government money and so they advocate for pharmaceuticals, GMOs, and other options that do make them money. I personally think that there is nothing wrong with those things being available because they also help people but why are agencies like the FDA not allowing other options? In fact, it seems to me like they are trying their best to squash our right to choose as seen in this article and by not labeling GMOs and even taking down websites like for essential oils. I couldn’t believe it when I went to my go to a site for essential oils that gave suggestions as to what oil was best for each condition and was greeted by a message that “this site is no longer available” and one by one my pins about essential oils on Pinterest are being removed.

What in the world is going on? When did our freedom of choice get stripped away? Why are we being so controlled by the government when it comes to our health and our body? Who gave them the right to choose what is best for me? What can I do to make sure I am able to make my own choices and decisions?

I know I can vote which I do but how as a country can we go back to freedom of choice and focus on love instead of hate? Since when do certain people opinions control so much? Why are their opinions more important than mine to the point that they dictate how I live my life? Where are we headed as a country and as a world if we continue this way?

This all seems so absurd to me and I don’t know what to do about it but I feel like more and more people are awakening to the fact that we have gone off track as human beings. Not even with the issues I discussed above but even things like religion, race, sexual preference, & even things like holidays. Why can’t we all choose what we believe and know that everyone is different and accept everyone for who they are and accept them for what they believe even if it is different than what you believe. Just because someone may not have the same opinion, why does that give us the right to judge and even tell them that they can not do what they want because it it offensive. How ridiculous and absurd is it that we can’t even wish someone a Merry Christmas or put certain decorations up because people are too offended by it.

If everyone would focus more on acceptance, peace, and love then the world would be a better place for all of us and for future generations. There is so much debate over all these different topics but for what? There shouldn’t even be a debate because everyone should be able to choose and do what they believe and what makes them happy. We should celebrate our differences and accept everyone for who they are. I believe the real problem is actually that people are so concerned with what other people do that they loose sight of the true meaning of being a human which is to spread love not hate. If people would focus less on what everyone else does and focuses more on being a better person by going inside themselves then the world would be a better place.

I may not know how to fix the world’s problems but I can dive deep inside myself to be a better person. The more people who do this, the better off we will all be because we are all amazing, beautiful people who can make the world better just by being better ourselves!
